What's Up With The Uploader?

OK, I just tried to upload photos and the drag and drop is gone.
So I installed the Picassa uploader. I have to uplaod in small batches because if I try to do them all at once it will not work. Plus it takes forever. The other problem is that it scrambles the files so they do not upload in order. Then I have to go back and sort. I have been uploading about 300 pictures since Sunday night. I am on the last batch and it's still uploading.
Why the backwards change?

    Hey Nick, we added a new fast uploader, our own Simple Uploader. It was a while ago. Here's how to get it http://www.smugmug.com/help/upload-pictures and We have found that updating your current installation of java will typically resolve this issue.

    Follow these steps to make sure your java is up to date for a PC:

    1) Go to http://www.java.com

    2) Click on "Do I have Java?" and wait for the test to run.

    3) Follow the steps to get the latest version of Java if you need it.

    You'll want to subscribe to our Release Notes blog, so that you don't miss a single update from SmugMug :)http://blogs.smugmug.com/release-notes/ at the bottom, there's a link for Entries (RSS) - put that in your favorite feed reader.
