Horses jumpin' over dead trees
Also known as eventing cross-country
For me this was a 4-day intro into eventing, I got to do one dressage lesson, one in show jumping and 4 hours of cross-country - which is a lot of fun
These shots are of the more advanced group who got to do slightly less trivial stuff like banks and stairs as well as logs.
1 - This is Karla riding Altti (a pony-sized Finnhorse) over the warm-up jumps.
2 - Pauliina coming down the stairs with Allu...
3 - Followed by Karla and Altti showing off
4 & 5 - Elisa climbing over the bank
6 - Elisa and Elton
7 - Guess who showing off again :lol3
8 - Katja and Zombie (aka Vappu) turning on the bank
9 & 10 - after all the sweaty sporty stuff, a swim!
Thanks for taking a look, tell me what you think!

What the heck happened in 5 - did he just throw his head when she collected him up on the top of the bank, or ...??!
Fun set, Pyry. I have to say, watching this international parade of horses is fascinating to me - the seat styles are just SO different. I can't deny that colours my reaction to the shots sometimes - in other words I'm looking at/for the technique I was taught rather than objectively - but it is so interesting! Definitely proves there's more than one way to skin a-... er... ride a horse
Thanks for sharing!
That little Finnhorse is something...

and I do believe its true.. that there are roads left in both of our shoes..
Thanks! I was thinking that might be an entry to DSS30
The horse in #5 (shame on me for forgetting the name) just threw his head there, didn't stop or anything.
Yes there is. There was a rider in my group who had a western style background, but I forget which class. Remembering your posts about hunters, I asked her the "What is it?" question. Sounded like something I should try

It was a camp, and I was grinning fairly widely afterwards
Yeah, Altti put on a good show. My horse was actually his mother, one of the most level-headed and sure-footed horses I've met

Great shots indeed Pyry. The images are so interesting and colourful. I liked all the shots but the last one it would appear the horse is smiling and enjoying it too. I would love to attend an event like that. What lens were you using?
Regards
Bob
Thank you!
It was about as much fun as I've ever had with horses. Even the first cross-country lesson in the pouring rain was good
I ended up buying a second pair of riding trousers after having to start off in moist trousers the next morning - lucky for me the local store had a sale :giggle

Thank you Bob!
The horses loved swimming, except Allu who was perfectly happy just getting his feet wet. You can see Elton splashing the water for fun there
Lenses were 17-55/2.8 IS for the wides and the 100-400 IS. I would have brought a 70-200/2.8 IS if I had one...
Thanks!
I added the vignetting in post, because it brings up the subject.
