Price of a used Canon 17-40mm f/4.0 L
My local camera shop has one it in A condition (used) for 330 bucks which
is less than half the new price. Is this a normal 2nd hand price? Or should
I immediately go there and fullfill my wide angle dream?

Take your camera to the shop to verify proper operation. If everything checks out then jump on that lens. At that price it is an easy decision.

Mission accomplished! Boy I was lucky that I called them beforhand to reserve
the lens for me. Turns out there were already 3 other dudes on the waiting list
when I arrived at the shop. The condition is mint so I had to buy it.
Even if the corners do not impress me too much at 17mm .. I can't complain
for that little money. The lens is wide, awesome on fullframe. Here's a snapshot
from my walk back home:

For motivation i sometimes search 20D in that web, which opens some remarkable photos shot with 17-40L and 20D (that is close to my 400D) and i am :DDDDDD
Enjoy your 17-40 !

Funny that you post the timecatcher website Awais. I love the site and have
been looking at their wide angle seascape pictures in awe before. They were
one of the reasons why I was considering the 17-40 in the first place.
They create some amazing wide angle imagery with their nd filters and long exposures.
