Wedding catastrophes and Do'h! moments

We have so many fabulous pictures and stories posted all the time on this site. I was thinking it might help some newbies to share some wedding catastrophes, or just moments where you look at the pic and think "what was I thinking?. Just as a little reminder that not every single pic has to be the THE PERFECT SHOT and that even some of the best and admired photographers on here make mistakes.

I am one of those "newbies." I have some experience, but not enough to make me not intimidated when I see all the fabulous shots here.

I will share one of my Do'h! moments. I shot a wedding a few years ago, wasn't thinking about heights, I shot the whole bridal party spread out, you know, standard line em' up type of pose....but for some reason, sat the bridesmaids in chairs and had the groomsmen standing, and they were already like a foot taller than the bridesmaids anyway. I wish I had a pic to share, but I was shooting film and don't have those scanned and uploaded to my computer to share. That was just a total disaster of a shot. Good think I was doing the shoot for free!

    D'oh!
My assistant and I were jogging off the beach after doing the formals because it was starting to rain. He didn't close his bag all the way and my 70-200 2.8 fell out and into the sand! Thankfully the rear cap was on, but not the front and it didn't have a filter on. Everything came out fine, but I thought he was going to be working for free for a while to pay it off Laughing.gif! Make sure everything is secure!

Back in the film days, the lab ate an entire roll of film, came out black...the one with the majority of the formals on it! I'm so glad digital photography was invented.
