After we passed the accident, the fun began. Here are some snapshots of the day.

Used my pop up flash to balance the sun on this one, but it looks like it added too much to the highlights. This was my best recovery effort from a fully blown out face.

The auto focus is slow on my D40. Half of these shots are way to soft for my taste. If it was full sun, it wouldn't be a problem, but we get like a 6 stop difference from the shade to the sunny area. I could have pre-focused, but didn't have a tripod. Opening up the aperture would have made a blurry mess. I even went up to ISO 400 and ISO 800 in some cases to be able to freeze the action. Next time we'll get it right!!! Thanks for looking.
