I have often been jealous of the rest of you that have done these Trash the Dress sessions... and when my turn came I was sooo excited! Cristin and Chase asked me to take them back to the place where we shot their engagement photos over a year ago. We had a blast playing.

2. I love tea parties... (Thanks Kerry for the preset for this... l o v e i t !! )
3.

5.
6. Up at the historic hatchers pass gold mine we found some lovely rustic places.
7.
I was shooting along and suddenly discovered my vision was being blurred. A cloud had rolled in and we were in the middle of it.
(I love this shot because it looks like everything in the frame is pointing at her... and she is so darn beautiful.)
8.
9.
This is my favorite of the set... she is sitting on an old safe in the gold measuring room (called the balance room).
10. I guess I gotta share another view of that. Such purdy light.
11. We drove up the road to Summit Lake...
12.
13. Every few seconds she would gasp and squeal... did I mention how cold the water is? It is up in the mountains in Alaska... what did you expect?
14.
15.
16. At this point my creative brain froze up in empathy for her frozen body... I just wanted to get her out of the lake and into a warm car as quick as possible. But still, it is a fun photo.
C & C appreciated for my first TTD session!

4. LOVE her expression and the lean-in on this one
5. A nice moment between the two of them...just lovely.
6. I like the contrast in this scene. The red really sets it apart. Ambient light or OCF off to her left?
7. Very cool shot! (no pun intended) Really like the diffusion of the BG...it gives it a very nice bokeh.
8. Like this one veru much as well....only wish she wasn't smiling and her mouth was slightly open in anticipation of a very private kiss between the two of them. Maybe his left hand on the back of her neck and right hand thumb just along leading edge of her jaw line.
9,10 Love these next two but a little awkward as you can't really tell what she's sitting on. Her expression in the 2nd one is very intense....sexy as hell!
11. Love the drama and the darkness of the scene so I think some serious eye gazing would have worked well here. Something a little more risque' (sp?) perhaps with no smiling and alot more into each other.
14. BAM! My favorite of the bunch! My own personal tastes here would have had another frame with that slightly open mouth and no smile. Just me though! This one's "killa"!
16. Very "Parisian"! I could see this in a London Bridal ad.
Great work Ms. Heather!!!!!!!

Thanks a bunch for the detailed comments! I love it!
#6 had OCF off to her left, just like you thought! Good eye!
#8 I had a bunch of frames to choose from, and I know there are a couple in there that are just what you were thinking... It is a hard balance for a guy to get the hand on the jawline without looking like he is going to strangle her, and even harder to explain how to do it.
In #14, she was very much gritting through the cold. She had her face in a perpetual grimace until I said... ok, lets try to get our expression just a bit more peacefull... this is her attempt at that. I think she did pretty good considering the water is melted snow.
I loved to hear your comments! Thanks so much!
Thanks for the comps!
Her plan was to rinse the gown out in the shower and then take it to the cleaners. She did get the hemline of one of the under layers torn, but that was started at the wedding. We just finished it off. But I didn't see anything happen to her gown that would classify it as ruined.
Thank you Mr. Matt!
Thanks Shima! Yes, that lake is super cold. Last year on the 4th of July we were up there and there was still lots of ice on the lake, so that'll tell you how cold it is!
BTW are the "trash the dress" sessions before or after the reception?
After the wedding/ reception by several months... they were married last November.
Thanks!

Ok, maybe I'll pick one, #7 is STUNNING + I love the processing you did on that one!
And I envy you for the last one. Did you by any chance get a photo of her from right above (did you get in the water too?) I wish I would get any cool brides like this :cry

I love that one you love....that is KILLER! Excellent work Fred...just excellent.

Well thanks Angie!
I did get some from above, but it was before she flipped over on her back. Plus her expression wasn't that great because of the coldness... At one point I said, "Lets try to see if we can look just a bit more peacefull." because she had been making all sorts of grimaces due to the cold.
Once she was fully submerged I was in a huge rush to get her out and basically shot that same angle for 3 frames and then got her out. I wish I had done things just a bit differently, but it is what it is.
You must have shot that from the bridge... it makes the rocks look so small!
Yes, I was on the bridge, and this was looking upstream (obviously) and to the right side. It seems there were larger rocks (the ones you used?) on the left side maybe? I like how rounded and smooth all these rocks are.

I was upstream from where you were (and I know the exact spot) about 200 yards. There is a little trail that goes down from the field of flowers next to the parking lot. I find it is just a bit more private than from the overlook. It was funny how many tourists I saw snapping shots of the clients in the water.
A really great set.
That is one tough lady laying in that ice water is not an easy task I am sure.
You made it worth if for her with these very well done photos.
Looks like a great way to spend a day..

All shots except for the last one--well done! To the casual observer the last one might look like a body? (Or is it just my tired little mind over thinking things?)
Did she hesitate at all when you suggested TTD?
Actually I didn't have to do a single bit of talking her into it. She had read an article about TTD sessions and asked me if I did them. Her hubby on the other hand... needed a little convincing.

I'd love 11 for the shot - but her laughing seems oddly out of place.
Great stuff.
