These are found farther south, around Mexcio and Central America.
I've gotten a lot of my pics of different birds at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh. They have two areas there, The Wetlands, and The Rain Forest that are enclosed bio-sphere-type environments where birds roam freely and act as they would in their natural habitat. You still need to bump the ISO up to 800 most of the time for pics like these because the trees are dense and the sun doesn't reach as much as it would because of the dirty glass plated roof.
Around where I live it's your normal small birds, common water fowl, and the occassional Blue Heron.
Hey nice birds! never seen one! lovely and crisp, nice tones. They look shy
Thanks Lynn.
They did seem shy. They tended to always stay well within the trees away from the main walkway. while other birds would go right up to people. In another thread I'll post some of a Grey Winged Trumpeter that got frisky with my wife and gave her a kiss.:D
excellent shots of a heron that I never saw before.

I like them very much. I too have never seen this bird. Not much exotic stuff here in Ohio.
Nice and sharp and I love the color and detail in the feathers.

Speak with sweet words, for you never know when you may have to eat them....

I would of liked to seen one fly. Maybe next time. It's big enough in there for a blue heron to fly around.
