Robin Hood's Hangout

The weather here has been foggy and gloomy lately, so I'm in the mood to post a forest shot with mist. This was taken at Redwoods NP. Not exactly Sherwood Forest, I'll grant you, but it's what I imagine the forest to look like where Mr. Hood and his merry band of well-intentioned misfits might chill. :D

I love it Mahesh. We never get mist or fog here, so this really is good to see.

    Great atmosphere in this shot!
I'd love to get back down to the Redwoods and have more than an hour to shoot.

When/where are the flowers in bloom? I made an attempt a couple of times in spring/early summer and we never saw any. :cry

Wow, what an atmoshpere! The light, the mist, the trees ... it all comes together perfectly. thumb.gif I keep an eye for a scene like that when I hike in the forest but so far I haven't been lucky to capture anything like this. ne_nau.gif

Hi Schmoo...I think late June is a good time for the Rhodies there. Double check that, but I think my info is accurate. Of course, there is some variability from year to year, so I'd call ahead to the ranger's office. :D

Thanks, CatOne! I remember hiking through the area and stumbling upon this composition. It's difficult when surrounded by such beautiful but "messy" scenes to pick out a composition that works.

Thanks, Ana! Fortunately for me, that area is frequently under heavy mist...just have to wait for the sun to break through and you're almost guaranteed some good light rays. :D

    Mahesh,

This image has so many good things about it. Mood, comp, hues, tones, depth, processing.

Your work is great, but I think this one's near the top. thumb.gif
