My family settled in the Cades Cove area in the very early 1800's with ancestors coming from Virginia, South Carolina and North Carolina.
If I am lucky, I will be able to visit that area next spring. I still have some kinfolk there, although my last ancestor left Tennessee in 1863.
I am looking forward to photography in that region.
rpcrowe ..... How very cool that you can trace relatives to the cove. We have friends whose families were forced out of Cades Cove by the federal government. I can remember when the area still had working cattle ranches.
So they finally ran your family out of Tennessee in 1863?

Sadly, I may be down in Tn. sometime soon. My wife's stepmother's (who raised her after her mother passed away when she was eight) time is growing near. So I'll be in Crossville when that time comes.
If I have some time...I might just take you up on your kind offer.....even if it's just to meet. You may not want to squire this yankee after that!
So sorry to hear about your wife's step mother
I sent you a PM
