Both shots are great. Just wish there wasn't a road in shot #2. :-(

Oh ya! Both shots are indeed awesome, but that 1st one is a killer! Love the golden light and the desert landscape. Beautiful! clap.gif
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap but memories are priceless.

Really like that first one, a classic southwest landscape and you managed to keep a lot of detail even with the tough backlit exposure - nice work!

Good work on both of these! For some reason the chain-link fence on the left side of the second shot is bothering me a bit (I'd probably clone it out). Anyway, you've got some awesome work displayed here!

both great images. actually, i really like the road in the second image - it leads the eye in, and the fence on the left side balances it. neat light. nice. :=))

Thank you everyone for your kind comments.

Some times you just end up in the right spot at the right time, and get lucky!

Sarah, especially I want to thank you for liking both the road and the fence in the second image.

It was an immense wall of darkness, biblical in appearance. A truly memorable spectacle.

I had just driven through that storm in Albuquerque at about 5 pm, and was running from it to the east on I-70 when I saw a rest stop on a mild hill, and realized I might have a vantage point to photograph it from. The rain had been so heavy it drove even the 18 wheelers off the highway to a standstill - it was just torrential in the literal meaning of the phrase.

The fence I really wanted to avoid, but could not, and capture the left side of the front. The highway I left in because I thought it might help provide a sense of scale. In the image, the billboard is easily readable at 100%.

Thank you all once again for taking time to post your kind comments and suggestions.

These are awesome. I have a thing for dark, ominous clouds so I really like #2, but the golden light in the first one is to kill for. thumb.gif

These are nice shots - maybe consider making the road standout even more, lead the eye through the picture a little more.

A few more images from the trip to Toroweap.

Another sunrise pano - the saturation was real, it was just that red for about 30 seconds
