I'm guessing it was tattoo'ed on HIS ring finger - now that's committment!
I had a HS teacher who had her ring tattoed on her finger (same as her husband on his). My husband and I are terrible at wearing our rings - leftover habit from having been an electrician in our navy days - and he suggested we tattoo our rings as well. I'm not really one for needles though ...

Know exactly where you are coming from on the electrician thing, my mom is a master electrician (now an inspector) and my stepfather was a union foreman a long time (now owns a small business) when they got married, it was more less pointless for them to get rings.
On the rare occasion that I shot a wedding, I'll participate. I have a small backyard gig with a beautiful family coming up in September. Maybe someday I'll actually advertise and become a real wedding photographer.
Best use of wind (I always find wind to be hit-or-miss and I'd love to see how I can be more consistent with it)
And another, more general: best use of the 'elements' - rain, wind, overwhelming sun, rainbows, moon, etc)

Sure you're allowed to watch and even make comments. Eventually, you'll get soooo excited about it all that you'll just want to shoot your first wedding and then, that's when the fun will really begin :lol

Actually....depending on the theme or subject you could possibly set something up and shoot....right?
Most everyone at least has access to a pair of wedding rings.....and at leats knows someone with access to a veil......shoes?........Im sure a florist would love if you shared some pics of something in their cooler with them.....
get the drift?:D
SOME of the subject matter should be VERY accessable to folks!
Good points Scott. My only thought for broadening is to have more participation. Your list is great.
Wondering if we want to use this as a tool to get more people introduced to dgrin? Should we post this on other forums? Is that what we want? I personally like the way the Weddings forum has grown.
As I said I am down with whatever. I really like that we are doing this!!!

A few wrinkles are bound to pop-up, but we can deal with 'em.
Really... it's not for money-prizes-blue ribbons so who would get bent if our first effort is a little disorganized? I'm sure we all assume this will grow and mature with time. Doing it by calander month isn't important is it? Best to do a 4 or 5 week time frame from Wed. to Wed. so that a Saturday or Sunday wedding doesn't get lost in the gaps.
My reasoning for wanting it started soon is simply so I can participate with an actual wedding. I shoot next weekend and then just Bat Mitzvah's and BS until November. And yes, I do understand that the world doesn't actually revolve around me!!! That being said I know a few other local wedding photogs that may let me stop by their wedding and shoot a few with them.
Another thought I had, since this will most likely be a long entry term, is to put an age limit on the entries. This may keep people aggressively pursuing the topic shots and get people posting before the last minute. Maybe run the contest for 4-5 weeks but make it so entries must be less than a week old?

the insane capture (crazy moments you managed to capture)

I wish we could capture sound bites but I guess then it'd be video.
My last bride said "Oh Sh*t" at the altar when she saw her name tattoo'ed on the ring finger.

Tatted her name to be right there...and surprise!
I like the idea of the on going thread.

It'd also be fun if we through in some broad categories like "getting ready, "dancing," "cute kids"...
And I agree with Heatherfeather--let's have an "outtakes" category!

Actually, as someone who despises selective coloring, I'd be interested in trying this. That way I can push myself

There are some details that need to be ironed out before we begin.
We're ironing!

We're just all a tad bit excited to get it cranked up.....and didn't really see where post #25 eluded to a time frame. Sorry.
