Up before dawn on the 4th of July, walked to the beach. A colorful glow on the sand textured with a million footprints.
Soon after, met a very friendly fellow who was vacationing on the same street as us. Asked if he would mind if I snapped a few shots of him, he kindly obliged. He took his time setting up, baiting the hook, then sat until the first sliver of the sun peaked out over the warm, flat ocean. Then he walked in. I followed.
Afterward we chatted for a while longer, until it was time for me to head in to breakfast, and he got down to the serious work of being on vacation.
I've always been drawn to photographing fisherman, and these are some of my favorites. It was a great morning to be on the Outer Banks.
