An imposing creature??

I got a few good hummingbird shots this summer. This one is not the sharpest but I keep thinking about the pose. If this bird had a 3 foot wingspan instead of a 3 inch one, I think it would be a rather imposing creature.

Thank you Cory. I thought the same thing. Although they chase each other with regularity I don't think you see and expression like this one has. Just struck me as funny.

Now desaturate the green in the BG about 20%!

I was out back the other day and had one of these guys stop two feet from my face for about 5 seconds or so...no camera.:cry

I like this composition and the detail.

The hummer does look mad, but it reminds me how territorial these li'l guys can get. I have two regular hummers that frequent my backyard right now. One male and one female. The male is constantly chirping and chasing the female off. And the male is never afraid to come and buzz my face. They're a lot of fun to watch.

Thank you Shaun. They are a lot of fun. We have 4 feeders hanging from the eaves by the kitchen window and I can shoot from inside or out. I'm literally within arms reach of them and as long as I'm still they don't mind at all. Typically early morning and late evening we'll have around 20-25 birds swarming. At any one time during the day there's maybe 10-15. It's kind of cheating I guess but after cropping the feeder out of the shots I think it's pretty neat and sometimes you get these special poses.
