So I just squashed my SB-600 flash unit when using it as a wireless remote. I was shooting a skateboard competition, and holding the remote above the camera. Well, the batteries died so I grabbed another SB-600 and set the first one down. Snap snap snap. Batteries died in that one too. So I swapped batteries out, shot a bunch more, then got up and stumbled. Looked back and there was my SB-600, complete with boot marks on the unit. While it does power up and show ready and doesn't show any major external damage, the flash tube has been busted and the zoom motor has been broken off inside. So its got some problems. And its my good flash too. My other SB-600's were all bought used off of ebay and they all were damaged when I got them. At least I had a backup unit, though of course, if I didn't have that, I'd probably not have stepped on it either.

The good news is that I do have insurance on the unit. I'll see how much it will cost to get it repaired, and if it can't be, then I'll file for a new one. Ugg, I'm kinda mad at myself. I wasn't even getting paid for this gig.

    Oh, forgot about this one.

    Resolution:

Flash head needed replacement, and this would cost more than a new unit. So the unit was basically a write off. I contacted my insurance, and they wrote me a check for the value of the unit, minus deductible.

So I'm down a unit, but some new RAM really looks good in my laptop.:D
