Visited a Lava River Cave yesterday which was around 40 degrees- pitch black- but surprisingly active with people.

No Nik- this is a natural occurrence.

1/2 mile long cave that was once a lava river tube. The split tubes end up re-connecting a few hundred yards later but in a less dramatic fashion. The ceiling at times is barely 5 ft but at the split it is around 30ft high.

Probably not because even with a headlamp you cant see **** deal.gif

I had a powerful video camera light and three flashes we used as light sources. Next time I'll take some better light sources and hopefully more people to help carry it. :davidto

Couple of Vagabonds-II, 4-6 lights and a whole bunch of dark-colored powercords and splitters - and you'll be covered:-). You can even save on radiotriggers and simply go with optical slaves...

Looks like you escaped the heat for a few days; I bet the chill felt good after the triple digits. :D I like the textures brought out, it shows such a contrast with a perfectly looking carved hole!

Thank you Mahesh- it was a pretty cool place to see for the first time. When I can get back with better lighting it will be even better. deal.gif

    rolleyes1.gif Yeah right!!

Not a very easy hike to get in and out of here. I had brought some propane lanterns and was glad I did not try and lug those in and out of there- left them in the truck. I am not the tallest guy but there were spots where I was walking hunched over and my backpack was scraping the ceiling. deal.gif

It did until a few hours later. A fleece jacket is great if you are walking in there but sitting in the big room playing with lighting - 40 degrees gets cold!
