I shot these at the pool yesterday; I'd appreciate any feedback on the thought process or images themselves.

My favorite is the first; he mirrored expression of the child in the background (dumb luck) adds to it. Sleeping babies are just too cute to not include the possibility of #2, though it is otherwise mundane. I thought about whether it is legal to combine the two as a dyptich style. The open & close on the third came together nicely. For once my daughter's squinting has some benefits.... Perhaps her mouth isn't open enough to really work for the theme.

THanks for any advice...

#1 is wonderful and fits the theme perfectly! Great timing -- you caught that bit of goo on his chin just before it hit fell. clap.gif

#2 and #3 are nice, but #1 wins out for me.

    Hi Andrew,

Cute kiddos... rolleyes1.gifI really love that light and exposure on the last shot..

The strongest shot for the theme is #1.. I agree with Linda.. It fits best. #2 is also fitting, but like you said, there is a double element with the "two" open mouths that help it to communicate the theme better..thumb.gif

Belive it or not, they had not met prior to this day. The older one is mine (going into 5th) and the younger is a new Kindergartner at her school that she just met about 60 minutes before this shot was taken.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks. I think the color is a bit off towards the blue side (I was in such a hurry -- camera will still in the bag in manual exposure mode, that I was off by about 1.5 stops in the initial exposure).

    Hi Andrew,

I think 1 fits the challenge beautifully. It made me chuckle to see it. I don't think the other 2 really fit the challenge (but are nice shots!).

Dumb luck and good glass...:D . Actually the last one was annoyingly soft for some reason (combination of them moving in the water and me being in an uncomfortable position lying over the pool edge and hoping my camera wasn't about to get destroyed) but it was filterable between using the unsharp mask (two different layers because each kid had different needs) and then some noise elimination with Noiseware plugin. It started off underexposed because I was in too much of a hurry to catch them off guard.

Well, I have good glass. I suspect your just a great photographer.:)
That camera makes me drool. I want it so bad but not for a long time. Sigh.
Anyway your images are so sqeaky clean I just love them all.

Thank you. Though I still have a long way to go and much to learn. Trying to make it a lot less reliant on luck....

You've got some very wonderful images on your portfolio. I like the series you did blending the trees with the people.

Wow Andrew - these are great captures - and so crisp!

I agree with the concensus - #1 is great for the challenge.

Many of the truely worthwhile things to learn about are unbounded, so most of us will always have so much more to learn. The value of wisdom and living can never be underestimated.
