Hi All,

I need a good title for this shot of Yosemite's Half Dome through a window like opening at the Glacier point. If you have any C&Cs, feel free to pour it on too.

Stunning composition. The one thing that draws my attention away from that beautiful view out the window is the texture in the rocks. It looks like a post-processing effect. If the rocks were the subject, it would look great. For the purpose of this photo, however, I think it should be toned down.

I love the shot, though. It makes me want to go! I'll have to make it up there soon, considering I'm not too far away.

As a title - Serenity comes to mind.

    Hi Allen,

This is a respectable shot. Very nice..thumb.gif

I like the processing, it works because of the sun play..

I agree with Cory that the rocks are dominating just a little which is amazing since the view is so breathtaking, so that makes me think you should work on them. Perhaps crop some out from the bottom or use some shadowing to tone them down a bit.

Because you have chosen a square composition, my mind wants symmetry.. and here one side of the composition is larger than the other and I think it is further emphasized by the fact that the larger side "also" has the pine tree, and so it makes it look that much bigger and throws off the symmetry.. Something to consider...headscratch.gifD

The only other thing that stands out to me is the processing on the pine tree.. Down below the heavy orange processing works because it looks like sun splashing onto them; however, when you move up into the yellow area, the pine really should hold to a true silhouette form. It is not, instead it has orange bursting out around the pine needles. They need to look like they would in reality with this kind of back lit shot, as dark needles. Whether or not that is fixable I don't know..

So, as usual, your captures are gorgeous and breathtaking, and you could enter it as is just fine,, but since your seeking CC, that is my take..

Nice Work and it looks like you got yourself a real work out getting there too..:D

As far as the name, that is a tough one..

Think of the word "Vista" and perhaps that will spur some ideas...thumb.gif

How about "Kristin's as jealous as all get out"? Well, maybe not. But I am terribly jealous that you're in Yosemite. Someday I'll get out there... Some day, I tell you!!!

Anyway, I'm not a creative title person. I'd go with something exceedingly simple like 'Half dome'.

I'm with the others on the PP; lovely shot but the PP looks like it could be toned down just a step. Definitely makes me wish I was there... I had no idea what the surrounding area looked like. Just beautiful.

Thanks JAG! I like the word "entrance" since I think it fits the theme pretty well, so I ended up calling it "Entrance to the Half Dome" ... for now.

You definitely should. It is one of my favorite places in the world to be in. I have been there numerous times and it never gets old.

Allen, you did that so fast I didn't have time to give my input! Ok, ok, so I wouldn't have changed anything anyway . . . I think it is gorgeous. Haven't had time to check the entry gallery yet though. I was thinking somehow using the word 'fire' in the title. I'll check out what you called it in a sec.

    P.S. Someday I'll be as good as you are. I may be 80, but someday . . . . rolleyes1.gif
