I am currently enrolled in college where I am majoring in communications with a specialization in digital graphics. One of my classes is calling for DreamWeaver. I currently have and work with Photoshop CS4. My question is do you think it would be wiser to buy DreamWeaver by itself or to buy the Adobe Design Premium or Adobe Web Premium. I am wondering if I should invest and learn Lightroom which is only included in Adobe Design Premium. What is lightroom used for? :dunno
My future hopes are all things in the digital graphics feild from photography, web design, graphics etc.
TIA!
Courtney

I think the best short description for LightRoom is located here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Photoshop_Lightroom

    To quote the pertinent parts:

"Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is a photography software program developed by Adobe Systems for Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows, designed to assist professional photographers in managing thousands of digital images and doing post production work. It is not a file browser like Adobe Bridge, but rather an image management application database which helps in viewing, editing, and managing digital photos (including those on backup DVDs)."

"Unlike traditional image editing software, Photoshop Lightroom is focused on the following workflow steps:

Library - image collection review and organization - similar in concept to the 'Organizer' in Adobe Photoshop Elements
Develop - non-destructive RAW and JPEG file editing
Slideshow - tools and export features
Print - layout options and preferences
Web - automatic gallery creation and upload
The Develop mode has a number of presets for colour correction/effects. Apart from the regular presets, there are a huge number of presets available for free download on the internet, which makes it a very useful tool for professional photographers.

I built both my websites with Dreamweaver and I love it. Buy it if you intend to do web design in the future, otherwise don't. I'm surprised the program isn't provided to you given your major.
