New to the macro side of things and still a relative beginner when it comes to photography as a whole, these are some of my first macro attempts. All were shot with a Nikon D90 and Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro lens, I used a tripod unless otherwise noted. Full exif data is available on each photo's linked flickr page. Any c&c or tips and advice is always appreciated... chasing little flies around is a whole lot harder than I thought
1) Some little butterfly weeds that sprouted in my yard, shot is a little busy but I wanted a little background on this one
2) A solo butterfly weed in my bird bath, I wish the top petals were sharper but I like the bottom petals and the reflection
3) First hoverfly attempt, these guys are tricky. Shot handheld and used sb-600 flash in hotshoe
4) An orb spider I found outside one night, shot with an sb-600 flash in hotshoe, this was actually my first attempt at shooting a spider or bug and I think next time I might try using more DOF
