Slide show that repeats after only a few images?

Hi! I have a tough one, that I'm not sure is fixable with current information.

I have a client who, when viewing a gallery by slideshow (her only preferred method), gets to about image 13 before the gallery is restarted from the beginning.

When I view it, it's fine.

Unfortunately, I have little information on her setup (using a XP PC with IE and Firefox). I suggested she clear her cache, but was stuck explaining what a cache was in the browser. (i.e.: not sure if I explained it well enough to allow her to get it done.) The problem persists with either browser.

At this point, I'm prepping to skip smugmug all together and take my computer to her house for a sit down review. Not the way I planned to spend my weekend time.

Any ideas based on previous experience?
Suggestions of how to get her in touch with tech support to try to fix it?

Thanks in advance!

edit: two galleries have done this to her. They are:

Both of those galleries are password protected so we can't see them. The first thing would be to check if any of the images are marked "hidden", thus only you would see them.

You should also log out of Smugmug and look at the gallery when logged out to see which version of the gallery you see. If you see only the 13 images when logged out, then it must be that some images are marked hidden and you need to unhide them. If you see all of them when logged out, then it is more likely something that is local to their system configuration.

I got your password via email. I don't see any issue in those galleries. There are zillions more public photos than 13 and the slideshow goes way past 13 for me. I can't think of anything else to do without being able to see the problem actually occur myself.

    I, too, am struggling.
I may have to get out to her place just to see it happen for myself.
Again, not the way I'd planned on spending my Saturday. Ugh.

Thanks for trying it out, though!

Because of the stuff that people can have on their computer, it's unfortunate, but it seems like going to her may be the only method.

Was this happenning on the full screen slideshow or just the regular one? Have you thought about creating a slideshow with really small resolution and sending her that link and seeing if that works? They would be small pictures, but she could see them the way she wants.

I've also found that sometimes SM's system and browser requirements are too high for my clients. Yes, it is the ultimate experience when it goes right, but there's not much we can do if it doesn't go right. I'd like to see a SM 'light' style that can be used in times like this.

(edit: "normal" slideshow; the one she would click the button for at the upper right corner of the gallery.)

Well, I figured out a method by which I don't need to spend more than an hour an a half driving to her house (one way is 50 minute by the navi system in my car). Not quite as nice as the official slideshow method, but it should work: use the lightbox with arrow keys to advance.

The funny thing about the slideshow error: when I had her try to get past the offending image using the thumbnals at the top (and clicking on one past the bad one), she reported to me that the thumbnails even stopped at the "bad" image! Really strange.

If anyone's heard of a problem like this, or even better, a solution(!), please let me know! In the mean time, I've saved most of 2 hours drive time (and the gas!) with a work around.

    Thanks for the help!

I've seen quirks like this before when looking at images in the rotate tool. They look fine in the gallery, but the thumbnail is look like just a line in this tool. Re-uploading that one image using 'replace image' works to fix this problem. Try that on the offending image.
