Spectacular! They are really hard to capture. Were you set up waiting for them, or did you follow the guy by hand as he flew in?

Amazing Brian...I've tried and tried and tried and failed.. these little guys are the smaller variety as well.

How on earth did you manage it?

Thanks for the comments - much appreciated.

No I didn't setup to take the shots. Was using my bean pole support as usual. I just spotted the male following a female around the Potentilla bush and knew what was going to happen next. The male always goes into a fairly stationary hover when the female settles to feed on a flower for about 10 seconds before dive-bombing her.
