Couple of shots from the same spot. Shot with 5DMkII & 17-40L f/4
I really enjoy this lens on the the FF body.

The DSS challenge right now is "open or closed", and I think the first shot would probably be worth entering... that sky is just awesome! What a beautiful area.

Was there any PP or special technique on these?

Love those clouds, Randy! I do notice a little quality degradation in the shadow ares of the 2nd shot where you've tried to recover detail, I think.
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap but memories are priceless.

    In LR2:

    1) bump the Fill Light - Add some Contrast - adjust Exposure as needed

    2) Same as above except I dodged the tree line

    I'll look into the challenge

    Thanks for your comments

    Hey Mahesh,

Your quite kind in your critique (a little quality degradation). Man, I dodged that tree-line heavily and never went back and cleaned it up. That looked...embarrasing!

    Maybe I shouldn't process images at 4am anymore rolleyes1.gif

I re-worked the image and replaced it here :D

Anyway, I'm finally through with 1889 images from the trip. I know I've worn you guys/gals out with them, but thank you for keeping me honest thumb.gif

Once again, beautiful shots. I like how you shot two excellent shots at both ends of the zoom.

Rather than apologize for wearing us out, I am more concerned that you have singlehandedly put the 17 - 40 L on my "must buy list".

Keep on posting shots from your trip. I am enjoying all of them!

    Rainbow,

Glad your enjoying the images thumb.gif and thank you for your comments.

The 17-40L f/4 lens is a FANTASTIC lens, especially considering the price. It's sharp & the color and contrast are noticeable. I think a little better than my 24-105L IS, on the color & contrast that is. Both are razor sharp.

I like my 24-105, but on a FF that 17mm is fun! It allows me to get in close and take advantage of that great WA perspective distortion. That's where I really like a WA lens.

Get one, you'll be a happy camper thumb.gif

Well thank you Marcy. As many images as I've plastered here (and Other Cool Shots) lately, that says a lot thumb.gif

I do like that lens, for sure.
