Lightroom Colorspace when exporting for web?

Hi all,

I have a problem. When I export a web gallery from lightroom
the images are not converted to sRGB colorspace. How I can tell?
Well in Safari (which reads color profiles inside images) the colors
look correct but in Firefox (which ignores color profiles) they dont.

Anyone know a workaround? If I remove the profiles from the images
the colors are screwed in either browser.

If I remember correctly, there's an option in the export dialog allowing the selection of the exported color space. If I'm remembering correctly, is there any chance you've missed that?

In the export menu there is a section called "File Settings" in here there is a drop menu giving you the choice of colour space. Just select sRGB.

You're correct. But this dialog only shows up when exporting images and not
when exporting a web gallery. I solved the problem by re-exporting
the images with correct color space and manualy replacing the bad images.

LR will automatically convert images to sRGB when building web galleries.

Wierd, I wonder why the images look different in Safari and Firefox. And why
they change in Safari when I remove the embedded profile. Maybe it has something
to do with my monitor calibration?!

What version of Firefox are you running. Version 3.0 has color management capabilties (if you turn it on). Version 3.5 has color management on by default.

I ask because, even when the images are sRGB, there will be differences between viewing in a color-managed and a non-color-managed browser. The differences probably be more pronounced if the images are not sRGB, but just because they are sRGB will not make them display the same when comparing a color-managed viewer with a non-color-managed viewer.

    I use FF 3.5.

I thought that if an image does not have an embedded profile sRGB is assumed.

FF 3.5 is color managed by default.

Different browsers behave differently when there is no profile for an image. They may assume sRGB or they may assume nothing and just do no color management. I'm not sure which Firefox does.

Hmm...I turned color management on in FF 3 as soon as it became available, but I don't recall seeing any difference. Since sRGB is the default, I didn't find that surprising. ne_nau.gif
