Another fellow-dgrinner-inspired idea. Our very own Don Ricklin tooks this nice shot http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=140536 shot the plastic glass.
Your task is to use similar technique, which is position some semi-trasparent material very close to the outer lens surface and use it for the effect. Kinda similar to lomography/holga/lensbaby effect, but much stonger - and much cheaper.. :-)
As a simple suggestion: take a plastic bottle, cut it twice, one cut close to the opening and one cut close to the bottom, and use those pieces (including the middle "cylinder") as a FX "phylter".
Your entry should consist of an original (unobstructed) image and as many various filter views as you deem fit. The picture of phylters/setups is always welcome.
Obviously, your choice of phylters can go much further than just plastic bottles. Meshes, sheer fabric - whatever material can be used creatively.
Tripod is recommended but no necessary.
Try to minimize the post work, we're mostly interested in the "phylter" effect. Fresh pictures, as always.
Let's get some phylter work done!

This is what happened when I put my philter close to the lens:
I didn't really like that, so I cheated and put my philter over the subject and away from my lens:
Finally, my philter:
The stem broke off the glass awhile ago, and I held on to the top specifically to use it to distort photographic subjects. I tried it once and didn't like what I produced, but thought there was potential.
Thank you Mr.Speechless :-)
Good entries, unfortunately *too* distorting for my personal taste . Pretty much all you can see is the "phylter" itself. I like "cheated" version better, but the primary direction of improvement should be focusing on the subject, switching to MF and then placing the phylter in front of the lens.
It is actually Ms, but whose counting?
I agree that the original is too distorted, but I included it so to show that I read the directions. I will try again with a different philter, the wine glass may just not work...
Thanks!
Again, try to keep your subject and not your phylter, being, errh, your subject. Use MF. Don't let your phylter steal the thunder. Good luck!
Thanks, Nikolai!
Here's another from me!

No worries, it takes alot more than gender misidentification in a genderless online setting to get under my skin.
Still working on finding the right philter...

Couple of questions:
1) is there an image with an unobstructed view?
2) is the image fresh?
