Really amazing, one would swear the last one was a drawing!

Are many different type of mantis common to England? I dont think / dont see many like this in the Eastern USA. We have the classic green praying mantis.

Gorgeous creature, great posing - must have been masterful direction.

Great shots Phil. I used to catch these in Malaysia. I was fascinated by the way they caught their prey. They seemed to have a particular fondness for moths and butterflies. Do you keep many mantis?

Hi Phil great shots especially 2 but would you not agree 1 and 3 are a wee bit over exposed especially the 3rd?

Without a doubt the most beautiful insect I have seen in a long time, if not ever.

Reminds me of a little old man - buy a nice one. A few months ago I posted my favorite mantis photo here and while looking at it it reminded me of someone --- and then it came to me. Monty Burns from the Simpsons. A little google research revealed that the character was INDEED based on a mantis.

In any case yours seems much nicer... maybe a grandpa Simpson or Moleman :-)
