Are many different type of mantis common to England? I dont think / dont see many like this in the Eastern USA. We have the classic green praying mantis.
Gorgeous creature, great posing - must have been masterful direction.

Reminds me of a little old man - buy a nice one. A few months ago I posted my favorite mantis photo here and while looking at it it reminded me of someone --- and then it came to me. Monty Burns from the Simpsons. A little google research revealed that the character was INDEED based on a mantis.
In any case yours seems much nicer... maybe a grandpa Simpson or Moleman :-)
