OK, So I'll admit I never thought I'd be doing Senior Photos because the idea of clients and scheduling.. yuk! I like landscapes because they are on my schedule.. But, you know how everyone you know sees you have a camera and still asks if you do XYZ. Well, I thought yeah sure I'll try it just to see..

I brought my wife and kids along, it was at the beach so the idea was they were to have a play time while I take the photos. Well my wife ended up helping me by directing the poses while I took the photos. The most exciting part was realizing we worked very well together as a team, and that we both really enjoyed it.

She's super organized so that means she gets to deal with the clients & scheduling part, and I get to do the photography part. Super excited!

PS. I haven't calibrated in a month, and I know I've made the settings funky, so the colors may be whacked. But of course I'm going to calibrate before I do it final. I just wanted to post due to sheer excitement (haven't even looked at em all yet, importing....)

Not bad! She's a bit too far to the right side of the frame and a little underexposed, but you can fix that easily.

I agree with Caroline..not too bad, a little underexposed, could use some sharpening? But the first thing that jumps out of me is her dirty feet?ne_nau.gif maybe because of the crop? If you want good critique I would post a few more:D

Yeah I'm realizing now it probably would have been better with her face on the left side. I cant find my calibration tool but will be before I try editing any. (guess it's clean the office day). I did some gaming so the brightness is up so that might explain why I think it's exposed good Laughing.gif

Hehe yes the feet are dirty. Combination of sand and the shoes she wore. Any ideas on editing it down a bit? I was hoping it would look sandy with the sand around. Once I find the cal. tool I'll post a few more for full critiques, thanks for the feedback so far!

I like them. The boy in the two pictures is a bit off. His expression by the tree doesn't seem to be looking at her, he seems to be wondering when the picture will be taken. In the water picture, he has a very S-shaped curve to his body that doesn't work for me. Nice light and nice composition (IMO).

We had trouble finding poses they felt comfortable with because he is much taller than her. He felt he had to slouch over.. Any ideas?

I've never done anything like this. My instinct says that he needs to be comfortable with who he is and not slouch. He doesn't look strong in that last picture. I guess you could do closer shots (3/4 length -- is that the right term?) so she can be up a bit either naturally or on a small box to get them closer together. If there is something natural and it works in the picture, you can go to full length. Not great advice, just puzzling it out....

just another small nit of advice...watch out where you make your crops. In most of the pictures the crop is at a joint. Knees, ankles, wrists etc... that is something you should try to avoid. Either keep them in the pictures or crop in between. I like the 2nd picture the best as far as exposure and clarity but I would have maybe just been at a higher angle to take the shot. Shooting up rarely works for girls unless their heads are angled down to the camera.

Ah yeah I totally forgot about the crops. I was so focused on making sure it was sharp & exposed right. Laughing.gif now looking at them again almost all of them are cropped at the bad spots. Glad she didn't notice lol
