Went up to Cape Elizabeth, Maine last week (before hurricane) because I hadn't been to Portland Light yet and wanted to scope out the area. Started off down by Two Lights State Park (because there was a good seafood restaurant there) and then went up to Fort Williams Park where Portland Head is located. All shots were mid-day so nothing special about the light. But it was miserably hot (mid-90's with 75+ degree dew points). I thought I'd share a few.

#1 Beach combing

#2 Lobster boat working the pots

#3 Maine is Rocky

#4 Wildflowers in Bloom at Portland Head Light

#5 From the cliffs overlooking Portland harbor

#6 A somewhat different perspective

As always, C&C welcome. Others will be found here..

    Nice Series.
I like it - that lighthouse almost looks a lot like the Yaquina Head LH on the Oregon coast (your's in Portland is better imo), I love lighthouses and this is a neat looking one.

It looks to me that the last photo needs a slight horizon check, looks just / / that much off to my eyes - and it could even just be me.

Nice shots, thanks for posting them.

I've been playing with the horizon for a while. I've got some perspective issues where if I straighten the horizon the lighthouse is off and vice versa. Still trying to figure out what's best.

    Thanks for commenting.

Thanks Mahesh. I was trying to get the DOF right in a single shot but still wound up blending to have the flowers and lighthouse in focus.

Great series, Tom! I LOVE #4--great colors and comp! And, I'm happy to see wildflowers there--my only visit to Portland Light was in Feb, which made nice photos in it's own right but I'm enjoying seeing this perspective. Oh, and I also like the first one with the young beachcomber!
