I can only think that maybe these were from his assistant or something...even then.

That picasa gallery does not seem like Michael Soo's work. I don't personally know him, but have followed his work for years since he's local.

His work is first rate. And I remember when he won the 2005 photography of the year award --- stellar work and meticulously detailed. He was the underdog competing against two well known pros, and he hit home runs with every single assignment. I can't find the article anymore, but this is the video on his three day shootout running around New York. I remembered he even brought butterflies for one set.

His more current work from his blog

And this is web site -- excellent work

I know he has a forum and leads various good out for shoots, etc. and loves to share knowledge. I think Dee Golden knows him...

He is known for his prep work and attention to details.

Don't even see how it can be the same photographer. Styles are evidently different...quality is just outright plain....compositionally unremarkable. Just plain....weird. headscratch.gif

I sincerely hope that at the very least she had gotten more shots out of them and some super fancy wedding album(s) ne_nau.gif and loads of other goodies for that much $$$

I wonder if part of it is gallery style. Picassa is Picassa.

I notice they didn't do any fun ones of the bride and groom. Aaand there is only one (1) eek7.gif bridal portrait. Did they run out of time? Or does he only do candids and formal family shots?

Though I do have to say there are times when I have a hard time creating magic when there is none to be had. I do my best by being bossy, but sometimes a couple just doesn't get it and won't invest their time on the wedding day to make photos together. All that to say... who knows what happened? She is a cute little bride though!

    Seriously?

But why would a photographer of his stature give a whole ton of photos to her SOOC and unculled?

True... I was surprised how few there were too. Especially with the photos being what they were.

(I would hate to have a thread like this out there somewhere about me! Remind me to always kick butt, k?)

The thing is that I really don't want to believe this. Not that I follow his work or anything. Given the amount of work and time it must have taken to build his brand and reputation, to just give his paying clients SOOCs and unculled photos? It's just...ne_nau.gif Very strange. Was he drunk?

It makes me wonder about the superstar photogs that I do follow..

ps., she is a cute bride!

These look like uncle "bob's" shooting the wedding.
There was nothing creative about the shots.
The camera angles changed a little but not the height.

The are really poor compositions and too many shots that the 2 photogs where in each others line of sight.

Maybe this was a couple of understudies covering a busy weekend?

Even the very last shot - i am see potential for a cool b&w or artistic ... but no ... just go sit and we shoot.

From Mr. Soo (correct?) to this ... don't think so.

very plain pedestrian pictures. a few moments captured ... but ne_nau.gif

Hi all, despite better judgement, I'm launching myself into this discussion. ;-) The bride and groom are private folks and they choose to only showcase certain imagery from the day (their choices) into Picasa. We showcased a full blown slideshow with imageries from throughout the day in Facebook the day after the wedding and tagged them. We were then told to remove those images...

The package they picked are of raw images SOOC and opt out from getting an album as well. No, they are NOT too cheap for albums at all. I have utmost respect towards their environmental fight. The entire wedding is devoid of paper products and they gave away linen shopping bags as favors. They gave me one that I'm constantly using when I go shopping in Whole Foods these days. ;-)

Here are a small handful of images from their wedding about the hotel that I used in our blog,

    http://www.soophotography.com/blog/2009/08/retreat-hotel-and-zen-like-wedding.html

BTW, anyone been to smugmug HQ lately can see our wonderful 4' lightbox image that Chris put up on the main entrance. I have not seen it myself but would love it if anyone going there can take a pic and send to me. I missed the Smugmug meeting yesterday. :-(

    Mr Soo,

    Thanks for jumping in.

all i can say..... Best of luck to you and your business.

A little C&C .... check my previous post.

If it was me giving client SOOC - i would at least shoot jpeg w/ a preset or 2.
If i had 24 hours - i would run thru Lightroom.

I hope you can come back and post some of your future work....

    Have a good day.

    Later,

4'? Oh noooooooo, that would be lame. 80". mwink.gif

Here 'tis in all its beauty:

    585736896_zuZic-X3.jpg

It's a great shot. You see the door on the right and 4 lightboxes on the left with other wedding shots. Yours is 26" wide by 80" tall. The others are 36x24:

The power strip sucks and needs to be changed.

Btw, we had to order a new 2-sided lightbox to put your shot in Michael, which really lit up our formerly dark lobby.
People who leave at night in the dark get disoriented because they think the sun is setting late.

We took the old, 1-sided 80" lightbox and put Emmanuele Coupe's sunrise over the Isle of Skye shot in it,
and it's a near-religious experience to walk past it now. It draws many admiring oooooos and aaaaahhhhs from visitors:

the piece work out ! How do you like the Duratrans versus

Daniel, don't worry about it. There are always constraints that
