Upper Peninsula Overland 2009
Our 2nd annual trip was awesome. As far away as Montana, Virginia, Chicago and beyond; 25 vehicles and one great week of off the path adventure & camping. Over 800 miles for us U.P. Locals and thousands of miles for those who drove the distance!
Here are a few shots from the trip, this was a trip along the U.P. shoreline of Lake Superior from the tip of the Keewenaw to the Soo Locks.
I'm guessing this fits in "Landscapes" as well, since that is obviously the majority of the shots from an off road trip. :dunno
Saturday's beach front camping:
Half the group
Lake Superior Surfing
Crisp Point Lighthouse
The old Vermillion settlement
3 of 25 pulling into Whitefish Point
Another of Saturday's Sunset
Group stop on a railroad grade in the central U.P.
Grand Sable Dunes & Log Slide
The group raffle
Crisp Point Lighthouse Repair!

Here's our trip write up from our Facebook Page:
The Upper Peninsula Overland is an organized trip led every August in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is a 4wd vehicle based trip that takes attendees across some of the more remote and scenic portions of this region. The intent of the trip is to visit and experience the unique natural and historical sites in the UP in a responsible and ethical manner. The broader scope of the group is to help share some of the trreasures of the UP via written accounts, photography, and word of mouth in order to engage the general public more as to the current state of the region, education of its rich history, and threats it is facing in many facets. It is our hope that by seeing and experiencing some of the things the area has to offer, people will become more invested in becoming stewards to the region's natural and wild public lands. The Lake Superior Region truly is a unique place on a global sense, hopefully as these trips and events continue to grow, we can utilize the resources for both educational conservational purposes.
We'll be launching our website soon and look forward to this trip getting better every year!

I have vacationed in the UP off and on for 25 years, learning to ski at Big Powderhorn, diving wrecks in Lake Superior around Munising and Grand Island, and 4 wheeling forest trails in my Ridgeline, or riding motorcycles around Lake Superior up to Copper Harbor.
Cool pictures.
Be careful and don't let the tourists in on the secret beauty of the UP though.
Was this real off road 4 wheeling or double track and forest roading?
