I had some pretty good anticipation going for this wedding after we made some pretty darn good photos for their engagement session clear back in April:

Remember this one?

Anyhoo, Abbey and Nate did not dissapoint. They scheduled not one 1/2 hour session of them by themselves with me on their wedding day, but 3!!! A total treat, to be sure.

1. We got all the regular bridal prep photos:

2. And a few tearfull moments with her mom.

3 & 4: the first glimpse.

5. When we began outside it was raining... a misty sort of rain, but I was still pretty proud of Abbey being outside in that, and before the ceremony too. I protected her gown from the mud with a mattress protector under her feet.

8. The groom & groomsmen all wore camo vests. (She, apparently, was wearing a camo shirt the day they met. )

9. I had the groom and groomsmen all posed for the regular Groom in focus groomsmen out of focus but looking cool and then this happened:

(I love the expressions on the faces of the groomsmen, especially the one on the end.:rofl )

Fast forward through a whole lot of photos of ceremony and family etc.

10.
The bride and groom used a mustang GT for their getaway car, and asked me to meet them for some photos with the car between the ceremony and reception.

Skipping a whole bunch of good stuff...

12. The bride and her dad's dance was very, very sweet, with her father in tears for pretty much the whole time. But I just loved this shot of his hands as he held her.

13. Oh, what the heck, I'll share one more of that special dance.

14.
Check out this grooms cake... Pretty close to the real thing. The sick thing is that I can even tell you what species of salmon it is: Silver. (And you have to throw it back.)

15. Gotta love reactions like that! (Even in the background!)

The money dance...

17. And then as the sun set....

    Heather....

Nice set-series. good grabs everywhere. thumb.gif
pp is nice and consistent, only #7 was a different pp which sticks out a little.

    #5 is nice... really.
#14 Love the fact you know about the fish- silver salmon - nice shot btw.
    good composition.

    other thoughts:
    #12 .... try in B&W - convey more emotion.
#10 do you have a shot w/ the car in focus and they are oof?
#17 is a little - a little hot but liking the composition
#18 looks to be right on ... very nice.
#19 Maybe use a softbox to tone down the harsh edges.

    Love the setup for 17-19.

    Like the commentary ... fun.

    Thanks for sharing

how cool is that???? I love it when the Groom feels comfortable to be a character. My very first wedding I got to experience a groom that was nothing but fun! He did a very similar thing to me as your grooms/groomsmen shot rolleyes1.gif then again maybe it's an Alaskan groom thing?

Thanks to all who commented! It isn't very nice of me to post and then leave home for the day. But I appreciate every single one of the comments.iloveyou.gif

To Barbnjon, The lighting was 2 speedlights off camera at 45s. ETTL II system at +2 cause the sky was still fairly bright. Pretty simpledimple!

When I C&C, I look for both good stuff and not-so-good stuff. Hmm, I can't C&C these - I, literally, can't find anything not-so-good worth mentioning. These are just sooooo yummy! I love these shots, especially 15, 18, and 19! Wow thumb.gifbowdown.gif

Wow! Cute couple... I like them all but LOVE #19. The lighting is great. Were those flashes diffused at all or just bare at 45 degrees? And ...my ignorance. Is it still light in Alaska at 10:39pm? It looks like late day :)

Not diffused at all. I have a hard time getting enough oomph out of diffused speedlights when matching the bright sky, and have learned to keep the brollys for the times I can shoot up close when the ambient doesn't really matter.

Sunset really was at 10:39pm about 2 weeks ago. Though we are loosing daylight quick. It is at about 8:45 pm right now. :cry
