Try a different browser. I never use IE since almost everything that crashes computers comes from IE exploits.

I never use IE either. I was using FF. I could try IE, not that I want to!! This is not a threat warning that I recall seeing before, either. It didn't crash anything because it was a message from AVG, my anti-virus program on my computer. [ ETA: It says the threat name is "Exploit Aurora 0-day exploit type 771" I don't run into trouble with AVG, either ]

The second place where all exploits come from are anti-virus software, lol.

Try downloading a portable version of firefox from www.portableapps.com. There's no installation, just put it on usb drive or your hard drive and run it. It's clean so you shouldn't see any error messages.

Problem = Real example; my wife downloaded photos from my smug site and posted them on facebook "to share with people" as "people don't want to leave facebook.

Here's the way I see it: I want my photos on smugmug, NOT on facebook but people don't want to leave facebook. especialy without good reason. with custom domains not working on 'be social' e.g. my www.fluidpixel.com I have to manualy do it and with passworded galleries all my peeps see is the clustr maps image.

I would like to see better facebook integration, whilst keeping my images on smugmug.

    Cheers

Hi-- just trying to figure out what you mean by "custom domains not working on 'be social' ". I have a custom domain and am able to share stuff on Facebook that way... as long as I have "external links" set to "yes". I mean, there are other problems with "Be Social"-- just the appearance of the post, for example, but it still works.... it's just not as pretty as we'd like it to be at some point. Are you unable to share through FB through "Be Social" even when you're logged in to both sites?

On the passworded galleries thing-- I doubt there's going to be a way to see them on FB; I don't see how they could.

I cannot believe I wasted my time reading through this unbearable thread.

Simply put... when is Smugmug going to incorporate a slideshow that I can link selected galleries from my Smug account into a FBML code and add as a tab to my Facebook Fan pages. NOTE... I said SELECTED GALLERIES!! Not the entire portfolio as is delivered in the tabs, but something comparable to Shizam's Slideshows that I have incorporated into my websites shown below.

I'm not an FBML expert but it sounds like you are :) Is there not a way to use the embeddable slideshows we have under "Show Off" in FBML?

Are you referring to Shizam's slideshows? They work almost everywhere else other than Facebook. Facebook requires that you utilize their FBML and sometimes you can cheat a few codes but it will not recognize the shizam coding as I have already tried that.

Hi, Andy! When I did the embeddable slideshow it just comes up blank on facebook. You can link pix, etc, but nothing under the "owner show off" tab.

I think the limitation here has to do with facebook limiting flash execution. It's been a month or so since I've read up on this, and things change so fast they need a stock ticker, but I recall that flash on a fan page homepage will require a developer API.

Now, if SM gets that API and makes an easy way to make custom fbml via something like SmugShowBuilder, then we've got something. thumb.gif

I can post from smugmug via the share button to FB and it will go to my fan page.
When I choose the option to post to my personal page it says error and I need to redo the permissions.
I tried finding the app again on FB but it brings you to a blank page.

I can like the photo and it will go to my personal page but when I share the photo it goes to my fan page.

    Flogin button all option
Once I clicked on the "Publish to Facebook" menu item, I get the pop-up to select the photos. However, I only get a "FLogin" button in the right hand bottom corner, and nothing seems to happen when I click on it - I just get the same pop-up again.

I have tested it with pre-logging in in Facebook and without. Is there a way around this?

    Thanks

Publish to Facebook is still in beta testing and there may be still outstanding issues. Did you look at the specific thread for it? There you can find specific information on the feature. That's also where you can report issues you may encounter and look for possible workarounds. Check it out:
