Apologies for posting a "dead horse" subject, but I did a search and couldn't find this. . .
I want to have a gallery on my main page called "private shoots" and then separate locked galleries within that one for different clients to access. How do I do this? I'm a little confused and I'm not a website guru so need some hand-holding here.
Thanks, o wise ones. :bow

    Hi Carrie,

I'm Christina, a Support Hero and fellow horse lover. :D Categories can be a little confusing sometimes. Here's a brief overview:

Categories can contain Subcategories and Galleries.
    Subcategories only contain Galleries
    Galleries only contain photos

    Categories>Subcategories>Galleries>Photos
    Categories>Galleries>Photos

Photos can only be held inside galleries.

To create, modify, and delete categories and subcategories go to Control Panel>Customize and then click on Categories or Subcategories.
To move galleries between Categories and Subcategories go to your gallery>Gallery Tools>Customize Gallery. There you can change the Categories under the green heading Essentials. You can change Subcategories under the green heading Extras.

Categories and Subcategories are great to use for Events or any time you need some extra organization. Here's some examples:

    Private Shoots (Category)
    ABC Stables (Sub-category)
    Stallion Barn (Gallery)
    Yearlings for Sale (Gallery)
    etc

    or

    Private Shoots (Category)
    HSA Horse Show (Subcategory)
    Schooling Hunters (Gallery)
    Western Pleasure (Gallery)
    Confirmation (Gallery)
    ABC Stables (Subcategory)
    Stallion Barn(Gallery)
    Yearlings for Sale (Gallery)
    etc

Or, if you want just one gallery per client you don't HAVE to create subcategories. You can just list individual galleries.

    Private Shoots (Category)
    HSA Show (Gallery)
    ABC Stables (Gallery)
    etc

Here's some more info on Categories and Subcategories: http://www.smugmug.com/help/upload-photo

Then, each gallery can be password protected. If you have multiple galleries for one person if you set the EXACT same password all of the galleries with that identical password will open, too!

More information on password protection can be found here: http://www.smugmug.com/help/private-albums

I hope this helps. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask, we are always happy to help.
