Shortcut for ASWC "Update" button?

LateSkyLateSky Registered Users Posts: 109 Major grins
Hi,

Does anyone know if there's a keyboard shortcut for the "Update" button on the Pro User "Advanced Site-Wide Customization" (ASWC) page? While we're at it, is there also a keyboard shortcut for that new, funky "Email It" button sitting next to the "Update" button.

Thanks a million great photos...

    Relative to that, I was thinking that it would be nice to have an "update" button to the right of each customization area so that when you do a little CSS change you don't have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to "update".

    It would also be nice if, under tools, there was a direct link to the advanced customization page so we don't have to do all that clicking to get there. "Click fatigue", ya know.

    Just a couple of thoughts.

    thumb.gif Seriously! I had the exact same thoughts. I figured that there was some good reason unbeknown to me as to why there weren't more "Update" buttons on the ASWC page. Maybe the "default" for Pro users when accessing the Control panel could be set (by the user) the "Customization" tab - at least that's where I spend about 99.9% of my time when logged-in to Smugmug...

    How about this as another option or alternative for a quickie-to-the-ASWC page (Advanced Site-Wide Customization page): When a Power or Pro user logs-in to his/her Smugmug account from smugmug.com (which I normally do), how about a link to the ASWC page right next to the "Your Photos" link at the top? Man, that would save me a-lot of extra clicks!

    A bookmark will do the same thing and you can have it right now.

    Thanks Andy. I checked out Smug Manager, as you recommended, and it seems like a great add-on. However, it asks for account login and password information which I assume will be stored locally on my computer. I generally avoid doing this type of thing for personal security reasons.

    I'll stick with your bookmark suggestion, though... thumb.gif

    To facilitate my laziness, I incorporated a link from my custom header to the Control Panel -> Customize tab that only shows when logged-in.

    I put this HTML inside my header navigation HTML under Custom Header to enable the link and label it with the word "Customize":

    <!-- ** #navCustomize helper link ** -->
    <li id="navCustomize"><a href="http://www.YOUR_SITE.com/homepage/controlpanel.mg?NickName=YOUR_NICKNAME#Customize" target="_self" style="font-style:italic;color:#A00000">Customize</a></li>

    ... replace YOUR_SITE and YOUR_NICKNAME with your specific info.

    And included this CSS code:

    /* disable #navCustomize helper link for .notLoggedIn */
    #navCustomize {
    display:inline;
    }
    .notLoggedIn #navCustomize {
    display:none;
    }

    Below is a screen clip of my current homepage as .loggedin - note "Customize" in the header.

    Cheers. <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/beer.gif&quot; border="0" alt="" >

    Andy's idea really, to use a browser bookmark... I just tweaked it a little to avoid an extra couple mouse clicks on occasion. Glad that you found it useful, though.

    Well. I just implemented this little trick and it works like an absolute charmclap.gif.

    The only difference is my link looks like this:

    http://www.socalimages.com/homepage/cobrand.mg

    I just copied it from my address bar and it takes me directly to the ASWC page.

    Now, all we need is more "update" buttons so we don't have to scroll aaaawl the way to the bottom of the page to do the update. Scroll fatigue is a worldwide pandemic ya know.

    Thanks again for the tip.

    Thanks, Chuck. I'm glad that worked out for you. Sometimes the best solutions are the simplest (check out the thread "..where no thumbnail has gone before", as an example).
