Complete noob here... but something's weird

I've signed up with Smugmug and am now ready to upload, however every time I hit "add photos", instead of the uploader appearing, the window just closes. I tried it on a friends computer and after I logged in everything worked fine. Now I'm back at my computer and I can't get the uploader to show up.

Any thoughts as to what's going on?

Try using a URL like this:

http://upload.smugmug.com/photos/new_add.mg?AlbumID=YOURALBUMIDHERE&uploader=olde

but replace the album ID with the album ID you're trying to upload to. This uses the "olde faithful" uploader that should work in all browsers. Be warned: it's not pretty!

Alternatively, make sure you've got the most recent version of Java installed, as well as the most recent version of your browser. Sometimes Java doesn't play well in certain browsers, so if you've got the most recent versions, try switching to a different browser -- that one might work.

Or, you could upload from your desktop. There are several tools out there that let you do that. For example, I use Lightroom and grabbed a plugin that lets me upload straight to SM. (http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/smugmug)
