Samantha and Jeff let me schedule the perfect time for the ceremony, so naturally I set it up so we would take portraits during the magic hour. When she arrived to the ceremony an hour and a half late, I knew things would get interesting later on....

Really nice stuff. Love your compositions! thumb.gif 3 is def. my fave. What's the "wood" pattern in #4? I wish you could have lit all the way around them and eliminated whatever that is in the BG alltogether. The last one is tough....both technically on your part to actually get the shot and the couple just seems way to bright.

Would appear that despite the bride being late, you did a great job with the shots. Not a bad one amongst the group as far as I am concerned. Thanks for sharing.

NICE!!! Love the first one. I kinda wish it was just the bride and groom and the preacher..... I think that one would definitely something that would look great on canvas on the wall!

Thanks everyone, it was fun to say the least. You know its a great wedding when you share a beer with the bride and groom :)

There is a need to run a few photos into photochop to clean them up a bit, but I am generally opposed to that. The last photo (with the starlight) had some exposure problems...

I was using a 550ex on a PW Flex TT5 and took a test shot and noticed the couple were a bit hot. So I remotely scaled it down a stop and fired another frame. It didn't change enough, so I pulled it down another half-stop and took the actual photo. Given that it was late (and they were close to missing their dinner reservations) I ran with it the way it was. It turns out, the 550ex had slipped a bit in the PW Flex and all of the pins were not connected properly, so it defaulted to a full power pop. Oops... Thankfully I had it a long ways away from the couple.

AWESOME wedding, Patrick! Your photos were killer. Speaking of which, I'd KILL to shoot a wedding in a Yosemite field like that! Truly gorgeous!

    Thanks again everyone!

Matt- Come on up to Yosemite, let's shoot!

Lisa- All of the swirling effect was done with a flash light (actually a video light in this case). I set the camera up for a 30 second exposure, locked down on a lightstand because I refuse to carry a heavy tripod, and simply ran around either painting the scene or pointing the light right back into the lens.

Shima- All of these photos were shot using artificial light of some sort. The bride really wanted to have a wedding in a field with that magic hour glow, but the sun had already gone down behind the mountains (we are in Yosemite Valley). It's all just a matter of where you put the light.
