Holiday Cards, 2009

I was hoping for an update to the way in which SmugMug handles 4x8 and 5x7 cards (custom Pro-pricing, availability through a client's shopping cart, etc.) but it doesn't look likely for 2009. So I'm going to bite the bullet and do some variation of Andy's 2008 method of ordering cards for clients.

A few questions before I get started:

1) If I order the cards, and have them shipped directly to my clients, are there any materials enclosed that would indicate what I paid to have the cards made?

2) What's the turnaround time on cards?

3) Is there an easy way to add my company logo to an existing card, or do I need to create my own cards from scratch (which would be a big headache)?

Would appreciate any and all advice before I dive into this. Again, I was hoping for some great holiday card Pro-service by this time, but, alas, I'll do it old-school. :D

    Like any print. 1-2 days in lab and then shipping method of your choice.

    I was afraid that the only way to add the custom logo was to create a card from scratch. Maybe next year.

    I'm not crazy about Smug's cards this year. But I love Bay Photo's cards. (http://www.bayphoto.com/catalog/pp_holidaycards.php?expandable=3)

    Is there any way to be able to order some of Bay's cards through my smug site?

    In your pricing tool, if you pick EZPrints as vendor for a gallery, you'll see:

    Love love love it. People need to stop giving Andy such a hard time about his use of the word "soon". Poor guy is the fall guy.

    Question - if we use Bay Photo for prints, is it possible to use EZPrints for the cards in the same gallery?

    No, EZP only. So what you'll do is put the card in a client's gallery - "Smith Family Holiday Cards" and price it for cards using the pricing tool, EZP as the lab.

    Ok, having seen the new product offering, as a user it's my duty to submit feature requests. mwink.gif

    It'd be helpful to have a way to set per-unit charge which is then extended out to the total charge for the non-single-unit card orders.

    Would this "difference" be that they would show up on the "set price" list, but not on the customer's "product" price list (under 'change product')?
