I feel like Sally Fields after her famous Oscar speech, and since this challenge was about movies, and you all are movie buffs, I am sure you remember her speech.
I can say, I want to say, that no challenge I have won has meant as much to me as this one! I did, I wanted it, I wanted it so bad, I stayed home to guard the computer from any wayward behavior.
The entries have been so good for months. I never thought I would make the finals again. Once I thought, worked for, a finals worthy shot, and I didn't make it, I was sure that with all the old talent and the new talent, my days in the finals were over.
I don't even know why I entered, and anyone who was watching, and listening to me whine, well, they would not have expected my entry. I think it was respect for the photograph I had done...how I don't know. I mean I do know HOW just not "how" the idea came to me. Until I did that collage I did not even know I had a photo of the Snowy Egret on that usually backlit tree perch.
I cannot convey to you! I want to and I can't.
I can say that if I were confused before at NOT making the finals, I was more confused this time at making the finals. So many good entries. I have already responded to dr It's post re the airplanes, so good: yet not in the finals.
There were so many good ones, and that, not sour grapes is why I almost did not enter. I was overwhelmed with the calibre of all the entries this time. I would have voted for any of them, I think. It really was respect for my photo, nothing to do with me, respect for the movie Cross Creek, the whole idea of nature and conservation, things I have learned so much about this past year. That was the reason behind the entry.
And the dragonfly that posed for me and my wide angle lens on Sunday. But that would make no sense to explain. I just felt so special that he would sit there and let me get close enough that I thought he looked magnified, his legs, his face, he looked at me. Superstitious as I am, I took that for more than I am sure it was. Then I over exposed it. . but the memories.......
Anyway, now I can say thanks to everyone who voted for me, thanks to the dragonfly, thanks to my PC for continuing to function while I entered at the last minute................just thanks.
The other challenges, they were good, but this one! I am pleased, very pleased.
Mongrel, you had a fine, fine photo, as did the rest of you, and others not in the finals. I am so proud, just so proud.
ginger:cry (happy tears, have to have tears.........)
It is so nice to know that people are happy for me, too.
I am just going to sit and smile the rest of the afternoon. The sun even came out. I might take the dogs to the park, heat advisories all over. Going to read the fireworks thread, too. Have never done that, the fireworks tripod thing. Haven't done a long long exposure since the seventies.
But smile, cry and smile...........
Thanks so much for the words, and that unceasing insessant (sp?) pompom. .
Hey Ginger-BIG CONGRATS on the win...
(you got my vote ). I thought your image really represented the theme and spirit of the competition well, and your treatment and processing of the pic was top-notch.
Again, congrats on the win and good luck in future challenges
Sincerely,
Mongrel
If every keystroke was a shutter press I'd be a pro by now...
Your double exposure, or double image is outstanding. Congrats, and what a great shot of an egret. I like it. I hope to compete in a DG challenge someday.
After one AM, and I am still smiling! I just could not, not be thrilled over this!
And all the comments, thanks, so much. I guess I am really behind on responding. I have just been glowing. I turned the a/c on and took a nap, too.
Gotta get shooting again this weekend. My birds. I didn't know how strongly I felt about them til now. They will probably be gone, most of them. Maybe one night heron hiding in the bushes.
I thank you all. And you, too. Ben, I have to say, YOU MISSED THE VOTE?
if there ever is a next time, I will pm you...........

Also, I was totally honored to have my entry selected for voting - especially since it was my first entry in the DGrin Challenges. :
