Gateway Timeout Error

The batch keyword function has been acting funny on me today. I keep getting the same error message after I hit send:

Gateway Timeout

The proxy server did not receive a timely response from the upstream server.

Funny thing is, all the captions and keywords still get uploaded. (and I don't get the error when adding keywords/captions to individual pics.)

Any suggestions or is this just a temporary hiccup?

Thanks!

Brian

I've seen really bad response times today from the bulk keyword function too. Upwards of 4 minutes for some to return.

I am seeing the same thing, except only the captions are able to be uploaded and saved when I go to view. Any keywords that I put in just seem to give me the hourglass for about five minutes and then time out. When I go to view the gallery, none of the keywords have been saved, but the captions have been.

I'm seeing the same problem here. If I add or adjust keywords one image at a time everything works fine. Trying to update keywords as a group everything times out. Makes for a long afternoon.

Go here: http://jfriend.smugmug.com/Sports/Stanford-Basketball-with-VR/329885_a3DUB. Go to Tools/Bulk Keywords. Select All. Bulk Add any keyword to all 40 images. Hit Preview. Hit save. It takes 2-4 mins to return from the Save button.

I'm a newbie and it just really stopped my gallery-making dead in the tracks. I thought that I didn't have something checked or unchecked that I needed to have.

I added andytest and it took about 40seconds. Is that out of line?

Hm, then I tried on my live site test account and it took 4mins or so.

I asked around, let's see what the team says.

Andy, the problem is that we're getting this timeout error message whenever we try to add captions or keywords in bulk.

For me, it's taking about 4 minutes of hourglass spinning before the timeout error message shows up.

At that point, I have to return to the previous page which, of course, is the bulk edit page.

Programming-wise, I can think of no reason why it wouldn't just take the data and return immediately, processing it on it's own as required. It doesn't appear to return any errors or give us any error feedback and that's the only reason I know of to wait until the whole chunk of work is finished before returning. It could just return and let us go on about our business while it goes on about it's business without making us wait. Of course there may be something awry that is causing it to take so long.
