Here is the latest take on my idea. I'm trying to decide which parts of the photo I need to de-emphasize, so any input on that (or anything else) would be greatly appreciated. I'm also trying to decide if it needs a tighter crop or not.

Cory, I absolutely love your eye (in a completely plutonic way deal.gif ). Looks more like a menacing grin than a smile to me...

Looks like an evil grin to me--like it's checking me out right before it decides to run me over.

This car should have a name--Christine maybe.

Thanks for all of the positive feedback! It sounds like a re-titling might be in order. I'll have to think about it mwink.gif

"Friendly or Evil?" maybe? That title kind of gives the viewer a choice of perspective. :D

That would be "Friend or Foe" or "Driver wanted"

Love the flat orange paint job and it's a nice photo. Half the fun of looking at a Beamer is checking out it's smile.

It was actually a vinyl wrap. I loved the car, but BMW M3s are my sweet spot. I had an old '95 back in Austin before moving to CA. I haven't been a fan of the newer ones, but this one won me over. Some shots of the full car are in my smugmug gallery.

    Thanks for the suggestions. wings.gif

well I guess Im the only one that has issues with your image...

Cory, none of this is personal, I see you really have some excitement for DSS and I only want to help from my POV... doesnt mean I think Im right or wrong...just pov...

    subject: awesome

Lighting: terrible, I dont think this could get any flatter, where is the vibrance or luminance ??? shade sucks....

Setting: I would rethink your setting... the two bottom corners give nothing to the scene, they only distract... select something clean and free of debris.
and the brush in the BG....? how about a cityscape with a sky? or anything else...?

No worries! I'm glad to get the critique.

The flat lighting/coloring is actually one of my favorite things about this shot, so we just have a difference of opinion there. I will play with it and see if I change my mind.

Your background suggestions are good. I don't think there's room for a cityscape, but I could definitely clean out the debris. I'll work on that.

This was shot at a car show, so a reshoot isn't possible.

    Thanks for the input!

Taking Aaron's advice into account, I've updated the first post with a version that isolates the car.

Big thumbs up on the rework! I actually agree with Aaron's comments but couldn't actually figure out what you could do to make changes, so I'm glad you found it! Really prefer this new version thumb.gif
