I JUST bought the 17-50mm 2.8 a few days ago....rolleyes1.gif At least it was only $449US compared to the $600CDN I was looking at. Could be worse I guess. Laughing.gif.

I wish someone would finaly make a 24-70 2.8 with IS for fullframe.

Looks sweet. My brother has the non-is version and LOVES it. I wish Tamron would start manufacturing for 4/3 mount.

Any more news on this lens (price, availability for Canon)? I was thinking that I would be forced to go Canon to get F/2.8 and IS. This could be a cheaper, viable option. From what I've been reading, people seem to like the old 17-50 non-VC 2.8. Anyone care to weigh in with thoughts/opinions?

Hope they fixed the built-in motor AF system for Nikon. That is by far the slowest AF ever!

I don't thin VR is necessary on such a short focal length. That said, the Nikkor 24-70 F2.8ED is glorious.

Strolling through the city at night, hiking without tripod ... there are many
uses for a stabilized lens. Of course you could always carry a tripod instead,
    if you like.
