Be Social | Facebook Connect problem

The first time I tried the Facebook Connect option, it worked perfectly, did everything I wanted it to do.

Now that I'm sitting here bored at work today, I thought I would post a link to a newer gallery and it's not connecting. Took a screen cap of the resulting error message:

I'm not really doing anything other that clicking the "Connect" button, so I don't know what I could be doing wrong, but if anyone's got any insight to it, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks! :thumb

We've got bug fixes awaiting a push to the live site. I hope it'll be soon, like within the next 7-9 days.

Thanks Andy! And my appologies, I realized after I hit "Submit" that I should have searched the site before posting the same question once again! :hide

    Thanks for the update, Andy.

I like the new interfaces for the Share button, but looks like the Facebook connect's not working for me still.

I wrote a little post, clicked "Share on Facebook" and got this screen, saying that "Your message has been posted!"

But nothin's showing up on my Facebook page (here). And this is the gallery I was trying it from.

I'm at work on a Vista machine using IE 8.

Thank you for all the hard work you and the heroes have put in to this! thumb.gif

I tried over the weekend from home with Firefox and Chrome, got nothing on my Facebook page, and tried again just a little bit ago from here at work with IE. Still nothing showing...?

I had simular problems in this thread:

    http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=143451

Scotticus said that they had found the problem and would push out a fix
when they could. It doesn't look like they have yet.

Hey CWSkopec, so it posted for me, so I'm thinking it must be a problem somewhere with your user application permissions or your cookies. I'm going to whip up a little page that will hopefully pull out some pertinent information. Give me a few hours and I will respond.

    Thanks,
    Scott.

Thanks for looking into it, Scott! thumb.gif

[Update] I just tried again, cause I'm bored waiting for the delivery folks to come by... worked this time! I'm signed in to Facebook in another tab, but I really can't remember if I have been on previous attempts or not.

Hey, CWSkopec I see your stuff is suddenly showing up in my stream? Did it start working for you suddenly? Did you do anything different?

There were a couple variables -

1| I was using Chrome instead of IE - when I posted this morning, I was using IE 8 at work, but I had tried with Chrome over the weekend, so I'm not sure it was this.

2| I was logged into Facebook in another tab - I can't say with any real certainty whether I was or not on my previous attempts.

3| Written description - The time it worked, it was a very short, "Here's some big trees" text to go along with the link. Previously I wrote quite a bit more talking about the size of the Sequoias and why the images in the gallery focus on "snippets" of the trees.

Those are really the only variables I can think of that would have been different this time as opposed to the previous unsuccessful attempts.

    Scott,
I tried twice more at work to now avail. Since it's working now from home, I'm assuming that the application permisions are set right. Could it be that the work security settings here at work are messing with the cookies?

I really don't understand cookies beyond the basics, but it seems to me that cookies on other sites (such as DGrin) work appropriately, because I come to DGrin and am already signed in with the "Remember Me" option at log in.

Strange, I wonder if they are filtering out some facebook traffic on your work network, and that's preventing the necessary transactions from occurring in the background. Let me think if there is a way to see that...

It does allow you to login to facebook though? It's just when you hit the post button you get nothing?

Yeah, I can login to Facebook and use it to my heart's content here and I get the appropriate Be Social screen, it tells me I'm signed in to Facebook. Once I've written the message and and click submit, it tells me that my message has been posted, but nothing shows up on my wall.

Ultimately, I probably shouldn't worry about it and do my posting and such from home anyway, but I get bored sometimes... :D

Here at work, we're restricted to just using IE, which was recently upgraded to version 8. And that's about all I know about the settings and such the IT deparment set.

    me too
Just to let you know, I had/have the same problem, so it isn't isolated. Sometime when I 'be social' with a photo for facebook it never makes it there. Nothing shows up. It worked on one browser but not on others (I play on XP and OSX, chrome, ID, firefox and safari).

I have not tried for a while since even if the photo show up people are taken to the wrong photo when they click on it (at least sometimes).

It's hit or miss for me, as well.

Seems like everything's working, but nothing ever posts to FB.
Then, other times it actually does post.

I've never had an issue with it taking me to the wrong page, though.
