So I have the 100mm f/2.8 Macro from Canon which at minimum focusing distance of .31m has a 1x magnification (life size).
The new 100mm f/2.8 IS L macro lens has a minimum focusing distance of .99m, yet still has a 1x magnification (life size).
So my question to you is, how does the same focal length, same aperture, and 320% further away min. focusing distance still give you a 1x magnification?

This new one being IS PLUS L glass...Wow... As soon as I hear a release date for it, I'm going to start looking to sell my 100 2.8.

I predict the 100L Macro will be a huge hit for Canon

I know I'm planning to upgrade once it hits the stores When they had announcements and I saw 7D and 100 2.8/L IS. I was like "screw the 7d, I want the new macro!" lol. Literally, that's the first thing that popped in my head, haha.

that was originally my plan as well. But I just threw all my money at a good deal on a used mp-e 65... So the new 100 2.8 L IS Macro will have to wait till Christmas probably...:-(
let me know how it shoots though!
