A day looking for barns.

The wife, Grimace and I went out on a little road trip looking for barns.
Here are a few of the shots that I got.

I was using a Canon 5DMKII with a 28-300is lens, and a 4 stop, hard edge gradient Cokin ND filter.

The cloud gods were with us on this day.

These next few have the Dave Hill effect to them. I think the painting look really makes the cow shots work.

This one looks great in black and white also.

If you like pink, you'd love this place. Everything was pink.

Not much to say about this, hay bails in the sun.

I wished I would have used a 2 stop filter instead of a 4 stop for this one.

Back to reality, Merlin was nice enough to let us on his property and show us around.
His '24' barn with his '25' Ford.

Who's that in the car with him?

Inside the barn, Merlin keeps the sows and their newborns.
1 week old. (Kind of an artsy shot?)

And babe, 1 day old.

And leaving reality again, a couple of feeding shots.

That's it, another 5 minutes you'll never get back.:)

Later.

Great photos Dave, I am just wondering how far you are from the Wisconsin side? There are some great round barns to photograph south of the Nelson/Wabasha area. I think we will be taking a road trip in a few weekends to get some of these! My husband will love it because the roads are twisty (we go on a motorcycle) and I get to do my thing as well!

    Thanks.

I'm in the twin cities area.
On this trip we went out Hwy 212 quite a ways.
On the way back we found some that were much closer to the cities, but it was to dark to shot at that time.

Great photo set and a good set of photo for a single day of shooting.
