The wife and kids are away which meant it was time to head into the city and visit some favorite locations with new glass and new ideas (thanks for Marc Muench!). Ended up with great light and tried to make the most of it.

1. Relaxing along the Charles

2. Perfect day for a sail

3. Gone fishing - did a double-take when I first saw this group of kids

4. Sweet light

5. My favorite trio - shot these boats for a Dgrin challenge 2 or 3 years ago.

6. Fan pier - HDR

7. Moonrise - As I was setup to shoot the above, a passerby advised me to turn around. Saw a beautiful moon rising and managed this shot handheld!

8. Returned to the original spot and looked up some comments that Marc Muench had made when I first posted a shot from here URL="http://www.dgrin.com/showpost.php?p=1130158&postcount=150"]link[/URL. Hopefully this is an improved copy.

Another great series. The shot of the kids fishing is priceless! I think you did really well on the last shot, although I prefer the first version where the lights aren't so bright. I hope you can get some feedback from Marc Muench--I read the link you included and I remember now reading it when you first posted. To me, your latest version is an improvement and makes for a very nice shot. Well done!

I love the rework of your reshoot. I hope Marc checks in to see how diligent a student you've been!

Thanks Schmoo. That bow should be directed at my new 70-200 f/4 IS. I was shooting the skyline from a tripod when a very kind lady informed me that there was a pink moon behind me. Took me a few minutes to change lenses and walk briskly to a better vantage point. I had spent so much time getting that tripod in just the right spot that I left it there and ended up needing to shoot this handheld. Ended up working well as the shutter speed was fast enough to catch that booze cruise going by mwink.gif.

Nice series, my favorite is #6. I like the natural HDR treatment.

That one is actually bothering me a bit - has that too-washed-out Photomatix feel. I'm going to play with it a bit more later today.

Nice work! I like your perspective on Fan Pier. I love shooting there. Its never the same shot twice.

For me the last one you reworked is the best of the lot. But part of what makes it a more compelling image for me is you shot it in the "Blue Hour" so your sky had a beautiful hue to it and the city reflections looked more pronounced.

That is a great photo. Well done.
