I do not shoot much in the way of landscape--would love to hear your thoughts.

    This has the makings for a WOW photograph. thumb.gif

    But, IMHO, something has to be done with the right side of the image. Just looks like the right 1/3 has a kind of vertical band over it. Would love some kind of details fading out from the lit area.

    The foreground looks fantastic. It looks like a bit of soft focus, maybe your intent, but it works well with this compo. The rest of the image is just too dark-nothing happening.

    I've taken some of your comments and updated the picture. Hopefully this is better...the vertical black band did not become obvious to me until it was mentioned (thanks rwells!) I've revealed more of the foreground and minimal highlights midground (mountains).

    Doug--the darkness adds mood as well as highlights the foreground and background. So I disagree...it is doing quite a bit. While I disagree, I do appreciate the comments and the insight.
