Three chases by lions: one failed, two success
This was one of three lions on their way to try to kill some puku in Zambia. The elephants disturbed a nice approach, so the puku literally got wind of the lions and took off. A failed chase here.

The next male was more lucky. With his one-eyed female he killed a kudu. She tried to pull it up to the shades, but couldn't manage to do it. He watched it, breathing slowly, and then with a sigh stood up, bent over the kill, and dragged it uphill to the shades.

That elephants up to a certain age do have to be careful of lions proofs the next image, where two male brothers fight over who go first dibs in a baby elephant. In fact, they had first dibs already, since the corps was smelling awful.

    Nice shots MArlof.

I would love to be able to go and get shots in the wild like this someday.

    I love Big Cats
Fantastic photos everyone...really great captures of these felines. The big cats are one of my favorite subjects to watch, and I can't wait to get some bigger glass to get a big closer...without getting closer! Here's my pic, taken this past winter at the Brooklyn Zoo:
