Taughannock Falls

I spent a week camping and biking up in the Finger Lakes region of New York recently, and though I wasn't overly happy with all of my shots, I did think that these turned out pretty well.

Taughannock Falls drops 215 ft and is one of the largest drops in the eastern US.

From wide to narrow...

It was a rainy day, which was helpful for getting longer exposures and silky water (no ND filters...), however I'm wondering if I stopped down the lens too much. They were all shot on the Sigma 17-70 at around f/36.

Any C&C would be appreciated!

What a lovely place! I don't think you've stopped the lens too much, as it had a really nice effect on the water. Kudos! Rather, the thing that I notice the most here is that the white balance is quite warm, rather on the yellow side.

Still, your compositions are nothing to sneeze at. You have a great eye thumb.gif

I agree - great compositions. My favorite is #3 - great control of light in that one. The first two seem to have too warm of a WB and could stand to be cooled down a bit.
    Nice job.

Yep, Number 3 is a winner! Better color balance too but the water is a bit on the grey side, maybe you could tweak the WB a bit.

    nice series.

Thanks Schmoo, coming from you that means a lot!

Eoren and Doug, thanks for the comments as well. As for the WB, I made a few mistakes when taking these, namely not bringing a gray card to do a custom WB, and secondly, just shooting in JPEG, not RAW. And on top of that, I'm on a laptop with no color calibration! rolleyes1.gif So thank you for the suggestions, I do appreciate it.
