On our way back to the car and of course we passed York Castle again.
The stars are truly there however, I'll admit assisting them a touch as they were a bit fainter than what you see here. Just a case of using the Dodge tool to brighten them up a bit.

I agree, the moon is a little blown out. It has been suggested that dropping a cheeky nicely exposed moon in there would be of great benefit to the shot. As much as I would like to do that, I'd prefer to go back out, take one shot of the moon correctly exposed, a shot of the castle as is and blend the images
