The 135 f/2L is my favorite lens. I think you are getting a hint of how fun this lens will be with this shot. You nailed the focus and captured him well!
Thanks Wiren, rainbow and caroline. My neighbor had rented this lens from Lensprotogo.com which is down the road from us and she loaned it to my wife and I and it is a very nice piece of glass. The DOF is sooooo shallow you really have to be steady shooting if you are at f/2.0. We are thinking of adding this glass to our lineup for portraits in studio so we can set it up on tripod for a stable platform and it should produce some wicked sharp images.
Seriously, I am probably not using mine right coz yours is 100x better lookingQ That is an awesome picture. It gave me the itch to pick up my 135, but as I'm the only one available to shoot atm, self-portrait is too much a pain in the butt lol.
thanks Mari...this is one sweet piece of glass....f/2.0 is tough to get used to and I think maybe for what I was doing it should have been on f/2.5 but I dooooo like it.
Beautiful
It's one of the best lenses in the Canon lineup. I bought it because I love the 50 1.2 (my favorite lens of all time) as well for the same dreamy look. Now I am saving for the 85 1.2 and 35 1.4 as well.

My dream line up as well, plus the new 100 2.8L macro, 135, 24 and 14 L's as well... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
:cry I very nearly bought jumphotocraft's 135 in the flea market last week, but even selling some gear to fund it would have stretched my bank account too tight and I had to pass in the end. Waaahhh!!!
Gorgeous shot. Where did you have the focus point (and which one) - do you remember? You seem to have managed to get BOTH eyes in focus which is a real achievement with that kind of narrow dof!

Hi Divamum,
I do remember actually. I almost always use the center focal point manually set so I can control it and I targeted his right eye (viewer's left). I think for non-posed candid situation I would probably choose f/2.5 in the future over f/2.0 because the DOF is sooooo narrow but I wanted to see what that puppy could do and I was thoroughly impressed. I only shot about 10 images with it.
