When the Weather Wouldn't Cooperate
I woke up super early to pick up a few friends and shoot a sunrise over the city today. When looking up the sunrise time on the net, I miss read the sunrise time and arrived at the place I wanted to shoot an hour and a half earlier than needed. Oh well, better early than late. Sorry Steph and Travis :-<

Since the weather was not cooperating....grumble....grumble, we decided to get some breakfast and more importantly fill our bodies with coffee. Once our tummy's were full and we were buzzing off our caffeine, we continued onto our photo quest to Grace Cathedral. Since the weather was not giving us good lighting conditions, what better than to shoot some B&W shots inside one of the more unique churches of San Francisco.
This was the first time I used my tilt/shift lens. I must say, I love this lens and can not wait to use it more. As you can see, this church is unique in that it has a fairly large Labyrinth inside the church. While we were there, I watched people using the labyrinth. A direct quote from Wiki, "Walking among the turnings, one loses track of direction and of the outside world, and thus quiets the mind."

We found the organist practicing for the upcoming Choral Eucharist.

On the second floor sits The Chapel St.Francis/Colubarium. This place looks like a portal to another world. Beam me up Scotty!!!

I haven't even had time to take the photos off the CF card yet, heheh. And of course I don't mind getting up super-duper early. It was all good, especially as we beat the breakfast crowd and Marin was amazingly not cold or windy.
Next time yeah we'll figure something out and hopefully get nicer weather. But I think the clouds above the bridge up there really shows the benefit of having an overcast dawn
(Enjoy your purchases!!)

My view of East Bay hills as the train passed by Drawbridge early this morning was beautiful, despite without the sun. The clarity of the hills, the colors of the slough, the low clouds, and some sun beams made a great view. I wished the train would stop for me to take a shot of that scenery.

I am a very paranoid person when it comes to my pictures sitting on CF Cards. First thing I usually do when I get home from a shoot is to download all my pictures onto my Archive Hardrives. Otherwise, I worry they will be written over or just forgotten about.
Post processing is usually very short and direct. If PP takes longer than a few minutes, i just toss it and go onto the next pic. When I set up shots, I usually know what i want so when I scroll through my raw files I am looking for something in particular. If it is not there, the file is tossed. Out of the 50 or so shots I took that day, i only ended up processing around 12. The rest are in an archival trash bin.

This church is the most friendly photographer place I have ever been. They allow tripods, shooting from the balcony and even shooting in the middle of the walk ways. They only ask you to put away te camera during the services.
